Active Release Technique

Hands-on treatment for scar tissue and soft-tissue restriction.

Active Release Technique (ART) is a hands-on method for treating problems in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Overuse, injury, and repetitive strain cause the body to lay down dense scar tissue, which restricts movement, reduces blood flow, and can trap nerves.

ART combines precise pressure with specific patient movement to break up that restriction and restore normal tissue glide. Dr. Fredrick is ART certified through New York Chiropractic College, with training in upper extremity protocols

What a session feels like

Treatment is active. Dr. Fredrick applies tension to the affected tissue while guiding you through a specific movement. Patients often describe a pulling or releasing sensation. Sessions are short, and many people notice improved range of motion right away.

ART works well in combination with adjustments, therapeutic exercise, and other soft-tissue therapies.

Conditions ART commonly addresses

  • Repetitive strain injuries

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Tennis and golfer's elbow

  • Rotator cuff and shoulder pain

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Sciatic nerve entrapment

  • Chronic muscle tightness that returns after stretching
